4th of July

Our 4th started out by going to our home town parade.  As usual it was great!! It wasn't too hot and no humidity yeah!!!  After the parade we went to my oldest daughter's house and had a cook out.  Her boss was there from her work and she is from Italy and her family came with her and it was so cute watching the kids trying to communicate.  But you know what kids have no communications barrier when it comes to playing.  They were visiting and they wanted to see an all American Parade and Sonya invited them to Ripley where we are known for the biggest parade for a small town.    They were facinated by the muscle cars, the tractors and of course fire trucks.   I appreciated it so much more this year helping them to understand what it was all about .  The one word I did say to them was politician and they got that right away.  They understood the military too and they clapped very hard with us when vetrans, soliders paraded by.  I always cry when the troops march. I don't know why, I guess I'm so grateful for my freedom and I know it was and is them that gave it to me.

At Sonya's we had a cookout.  Robbie my SIL cooked burgers, hotdogs and Brats on the grill.  So Good.  We had macroni salad, corn on the cob, baked beans and any kind of chip and dip you wanted.  My treat was I took my old fashion ice cream maker and made home made ice cream.  This years flavor was cherry/pineapple, everyone took a turn at cranking that thing.  I told Sonya, I am going to give this to you and get me an electric one. LOL.  It was so good.

Today is my son in law's birthday, he is such a great guy, he and my daughter have been married 25 years and never once have he and I had a disagreement.  Thas saying a lot for a mother in law huh?  Anyway we had our picture taken together at the parade because we both were dressed for the part!!! Happy Birthday Robbie

Robbie and I wasn't the only ones dressed for the 4th , what do you think. ?
Benji , Hub and Sadie were in the celebration too.

I've got some more pictures which I will put in an album if you want to see .

Anyway the 4th was great even though our fireworks were cancelled due to rain again.  So like the rest of you who didn't have fireworks either I watched it on tv.

I hope your 4th was a good one.

Blog Slacker Thats Me!!

Ok, thought I'd better write something since I have not posted a little over a week.

Thanks for all your comments on my grand daughter winning the 4 year scholarship.  Rachel is a lovely girl, (I know I'm the grandma) she is kind and loving and really cares about people. Her plans are to become a Dr.  I don't know of anyone more caring than Rachel.  Ok, I will stop, but I just wanted you to know your vote was not wasted.

After Rachel accepted her award she had to go back to Cedarville where she was taking some college classes and last Saturday, her mother , and twin sister and myself went to pick her up.  Thats when the fun began.  We left there and went to Jeffersonville, Ohio where they have this outlet mall.  Nothing but big time name brands, some a little too expensive for my taste, but it was fun looking.  One in particular was J Cruise you know where the first lady shops sometimes!  Well, if I were the first lady I would have nothing to wear, because I could not find one item I would even consider wearing!!! Even though it was an outlet, they were still pricey.  The twins did get a head band each there, which were on sale for $7.50 each normally $12.00!!! Can you imagine paying $12.00 for a plastic head band??? not this old tight wad.  After we hit all the shops we went to A & W and each had a root beer float, now that was worth the whole trip.

I went to work on Monday , only have about 10 campers on the lot, although we did get a floor planner!! yeah, but the selling season is about over and who wants to carry all that inventory through the winter??? My boss is between a rock and a hard place and now that he has the financing to purchase, the mfg. can't get the campers to him until the end of JULY!!!   So I'm still only going in one day a week to keep things organized until a decesion is made.  I've told him I'm going to retire in January, but he insist that I can still work???

Work is easy, I have had a taste of retirement only working 1 day a week and I'm about dead from doing all the things that have to be done to a place .  With all the rain we have been having I've been cutting grass twice a week, I've stained porch floors, painted and still more painting to do.  Training two little doggies how to pee outside, taking care of my tomato plants, watering lots of my flowers, and did I mention I do a lot of weed whacking? Ugh. Now thats the job thats going to kill me!!
In addition to my place I take care of my Mom's, do I sound like I'm complaining here? don't mean to , I guess I should be thankful that I'm able to do all of this.

What is hubby into you say?  Well, he has three projects going!!  We are getting ready to install a carport, really it's for our camper and he's had to dig all these holes and fill with concrete to anchor the frame to and he's doing it with a post hole digger.  He has started another shed to put more of his "stuff" in and then we got this fence to put around the yard for the pups, more concrete!!! Hopefully the carport will be done next week. Come on fence!!! or shed? LOL  I told him when the jobs are done, we are taking that dang camper and going somewhere, I had planned on going to DC but then all these projects came up , maybe I can go this fall.???

Well, this weekend is the 4th of July.  Happy Birthday America from one proud American.  Here in our little town we have a parade, fireworks, flea markets, Arts and Crafts fair, carnivial, etc;  I plan on going to the parade, hubby will be there helping with security with the HAM radio club in which he is a member.  After I go to the flea market I plan on coming home and cooking on the grill for us and I have a old fashion ice cream maker, yes you have to crank it and make some home made ice cream. Yum Yum., lets hope my arm holds out...  Come on over and have some with me.

Whatever or wherever you celebrate the 4th, stay safe and enjoy.

Oops I almost forgot to say something about Hayden. He is great and he is celebrating the 4th with his grandmother in Pittsburg.  She is taking him to the zoo.
He is still not talking, but the dr. says when he is ready he will talk!!

Cherish you all
Hugs, Pat

Happy Fathers Day

Captain Everett C. Marshall
April 9, 1925-April 6, 1981

Daddy I miss you as much today as the day you left.  This man taught me how to treat people right , how to feed  myself from the river, and gave me more love than I deserved.   I miss him everyday of my life.

This picture was taken about a year before his death.

Love Always,Your Patsy  Happy Fathers Day to my husband too who has been a great and caring dad to our three children.  He loves them more than they know.

Stuff

Well, I am still potty training the schnauzer puppies and it is going well.  It's a lot of work but in the long run it will pay off.   They are growing like little weeds.
They play hard, fall asleep, pee and start all over again.  They are getting into a routine with going to bed, I put them in their kennel around 11:00 PM and no sounds until around 5:30 or 6:00 am If I am lucky. LOL  As I told you in some of my comments Sadie had to go to the vet yesterday as she had a unrinary track infection and I just panic because thats how I lost my first snchnauzer Homer, only he had a stone blockage and after his surgery he lasted three weeks.  The vet assured me that this was very common in young female puppies.  I have to take them both back on July 1, for more shots and I'm going to discuss with him how old they have to be before I can have them fixed.  Anyway all is good on the Schnauzer home front and Benji is doing so good handling it all.

Hubby and I ordered a 18X36 carport today for the camper.  I have a cover for it but it's so hard to put on , and it involves me walking on the roof of this tall thing, which I don't care to do.!!  After that we went to a road side market and I purchased half runner beans, new red potatoes and cantelopes.  I know they were from Georgia but I just love fresh veggies.  The beans I plan on cooking for hubby on Fathers Day on Sunday along with steaks on the grill.  Whenever we go into town we have to stop at Wally World, where I picked up some more puppy food, and training pads!!

Came home and it was time for Hayden to come and he and I immediately changed into our swim suits to try out the pool I got him.  We played and played and he had a great time, didn't know how I was going to get him out, but good old rain made it easy!!! A storm came though and he was ready to go in and after I got him dried he took a good nap!!!  Isn't it funny we play in the water but if it's raining it's no fun, what is the difference.

Well, the latest on the big screen tv, they are going to replace it which is good news and the bad news is it won't be until the middle of July before we get it when they come out with the new model.  Don't get me wrong, I appreciate them replaceing it even though it was out of warranty, but hey what I've had it here at the house for 5 months???  They have had it more than us.

I transplanted some of my hosta's and I wasn't sure they were going to make it, but take a look, all is good and I'm ready to do some more for my Mom around her porch just back from the drip line.  That I will do Saturday as today I have Hayden and tomorrow Hubby, my oldest daughter and I are going to Wheeling to pick up her other twin that went to girls state.   We don't have to pick her up until noon so we are going early to stop by Cabella's and let hubby drool for a little bit.
After we pick grand daughter up then its the malls, they have several nice malls in the area.  Grand daughter got her picture taken with the Govenor while there, don't know if that is a big deal or not?? LOL

Her twin sister Rachel whom I asked you all to vote for is staying two weeks at another college in Ohio.  Rachel is behind in votes, but I wanted all of you to know that I appreciated you taking the time to vote for her and next week we will know who they award this scholarship to and I will let you know. Again thanks for your support.  Rachel is the one with the red scarf around her neck. Did I tell you she wants to be a doctor?  Those are her goals.

Well, its almost time for Hayden so I will stop here and hope each and everyone of you are having a good week.

As Ever,
Pat
