Mothers Day and This N That

Wow! A week has almost past and I have not made an entry to my blog.  Although I have been around to visit all of you, love seeing whats happening in all your lives. Enjoy all of you so much.

One of the reasons I have not blog as you recall I took 4 days off last week and boy did my work here at the job site pile up!!!! I had about 10 deals to close, as well as the day to day operations!! Thankfully I can say this morning I am all caught up. Yeah!!! Thats why I am blogging here at work this morning.

I want to wish you all a Happy Mothers Day (if you're a mother) and hope you have the best ever and if not have a great week-end.

I am lucky enought to still have my mother, she will be 81 in September.  She loves teapots, which I think she has way too many, but she also likes to feed the birds and have them around, so I purchased her a Birdhouse that is shaped like a teapot.  It is white ceramic with little blue violets on it.  Hope she likes it.  I will probably cook dinner for her.  Mom still lives alone , she is right across the street from me where I can keep a daily check on her and she me!!! LOL  She does very well, she keeps her own house and does her cooking, like I told you before most nights she has my supper done when I get home from work. Thanks Mom I appreciate it so much. With that being done it gives me more time to work on my yard, . So, Mom heres to you Happy Mothers Day.

One of my cousins wife died this morning, and I know his kids will have a sad Mothers Day and my heart goes out to them. She has been sick for a long time . I know she is better off, because she has suffered so much with her cancer, but it still does not help the fact that they won't have their Mother this Year.  Sandra was a wonderful mother to her children and her youngest daughter who is a nurse took care of her to the end. I know this will be especially hard on her. God Bless You all.

Another note I want to pass on to you is that Former President Bill Clinton will be coming to our little town today!!! He is coming to the Ripley VFD .  Everyone is invited. No tickets needed. Hmmmmmmmmmmm!  Me going, No Way, that little place will be a mad house!! I did however stand in line from 2:30AM to 9:00 AM to see Geoge Bush, (our current Mr. Bush) on a fourth of July.  We are a small town and to see all the secret service on top of our little buildings with all their machine guns was something else to behold.  I did get within 20 feet of him though, It was very exciting and made the 4th extra special that year.  When I came through town this morning, the place was a buzzin, getting ready for Clinton's visit. All I can say is when I get off work this afternoon, I will be taking the interstate and by passing Little old Ripley, Believe it or Not.!!!

When I was off last week Hayden and His Mom took a little vacation in the mountains. We finally got the little guy back last night, and I was afraid he would forget us, but he started squeeling when he saw hubby and when I got home from work he started his little dance thing swaying back and forth and grinning from ear to ear. We sure missed him and so glad he is back.  He got to go swimming and his Mom said he loved it. So I guess now I will have to get him a little pool for the back yard, a kiddie pool, I know I spend a lot on my grandchildren but I am not putting in a pool. LOL

Ok I think I have ramble enough, Hope you all have a wonderful Mothers Day and a great Week-end.

As Ever, Pat

Sister Visit

Well, it is Sunday afternoon and I thought I would share my visit with my sister.  We had a wonderful time, we laughed a lot, shopped a lot and worked a lot. All of the previous we both love.

I picked her up from the train station on Wednesday evening around 9:45, her train was about 45 minutes late but that was ok. I had the next four days off and I didn't care if It was late or not.  She said the ride was good.  The food was awful she said. I have never been on a train, have any of you?

Anyway, on Thrusday we hit the ground running.  We got the grass cut for Mom and Mom's hallway ceiling needed painting and she and her hubby did that.  I appreciated it so much, because its one less job for me, helped me out a lot.

Of course we ate good while she was here, Mom cooked for us everyday. She and her husband had been on a diet and they both had lost a lot of weight, but they blew that diet these past four days. LOL

Friday, she and I hit all the little antique shops here in the area, she found several things that she had been looking for. We also ate lunch out that day to give Mom a rest. Then she and I worked on my fish pond, we refilled it and treated it for algae.  I have 9 fish in it I have 5 Coy and 4 Goldfish.  Mom enjoys it so much, she feeds them everyday.  To me its a pain in the butt sometimes, but it brings Mom such pleasure I don't have the heart to do away with it.  We also stopped by my work place to introduce her to my young bosses.  I asked one of them if they needed me to do anything for them before I left and he replied you need to run from here fast or you will be here to Sunday.  I guess they had sold a bunch of campers and all the paperwork is waiting for you know who!  I said OK, you don't have to tell me twice I am out of here, see you Monday.

Saturday was just sat around and visit with all my children and grandchildren so she could check out what was going on in all of their lives.  She fell in love with Hayden.   After, later that day I cooked steaks on the grill and had all the fixins and we had another laughter filled time.

This morning I had to get up at 5:30 and get ready to take her to the train station, I hate good byes, we both cried, hopefully I can get down there this summer and spend a few days with her on her island. Yes she lives on an island.  How cool is that?  Anyway here is a picture of Mom, Mary and Myself waiting for the train and her boarding the train.DSCN1749DSCN1751She is in the green sweater, she would not look back because she was crying so hard. Anyway I love you dear sister and hope to see you again real soon.

We didn't get any flowers done, I didn't want to kill her with work.  After the train left, Mom and I headed for the greenhouse to get flowers and now we have been on the road for about 3 hours and we get to the greenhouse at 10:00 AM and they didn't open until Noon!! Ugh, I was just too tired to sit there for two hours, so I drove home and took a nap. Hubby said he would take me back later if I wanted to go, so I may take him up on that offer.

I don't have Hayden this week, He and His Mom and Dad went camping for a week. John and Iwill be lost without him this week, but on the other hand it will give me a chance to get all the jobs I need to complete done. But I will still miss him.  His Mom just called me and let me know that she got there, I worry so and she promised she would call and she did. Thanks Sierra.

Ok, I will quit running on and on, I wish you all a wonderful week , mine I figure will be buried in paperwork!!! Take Care, Pat

Pictures of my hard work & Hayden

Ok here is a picture of the porch floor the girls helped me with.DSCN1736 I loved the way the stain turned out and it's water proof.
You only have to do it every two years.DSCN1735  Ok, here are the ugly stressed steps, I was so hopeing they would turn out like the porch floor, but not happening for a while, Al, one of my blog friends told me to try goo be gone , nothing, would move that ugly mess, so hopefully the weather will over time. You won't hurt my feeling if you think they suck.DSCN1737don't they look like they are a hundred years old?

Now , just got to share these of Hayden with you. DSCN1724He is 5 months old now and scooting all over the place. the next picture is of him in his Dragon suit.DSCN1730DSCN1729
Ok, got to get off here, my only sister is coming from Virginia tomorrow and I've got to get this house in order. I have not seen her for over a year. We have a great time when she is here.  she is going to help me do mine and Mom's flower beds. Will try to remember the camera.  Everyone have a great rest of the week. I'm going to take Thrusday, Friday off so I can spend as much time with her as I can.

Busy Busy Week-end? Quirks

Very busy at my house this week-end.  First of all I had Grandchildren Galore there, but they all helped me get a lot of jobs done, that otherwise that would have taken me several week-ends. Gotta love them granchildren.

On Friday I picked up the twin grand-daughters , and boy are they little workers.  We stained the stressed steps as well as the porch floor. We worked three wide and the floor now looks like hard wood floors. They did a great job. As for the steps they still look like they are stressed. Hopefully the weather will help me with this!!! After we got the porch done we went to the swing in the yard and re-stained it too. First we had to scrub the winter off it .  Most of the day Saturday we were at the soccer field, they referee two games and then they had a game in which they played in.  Sadly they lost, but they tried.

Then my 18 year old grandson spent the week-end with me too, he also helped with the staining.  I had to send him to the store to get more stain and I let him take my caddy, and he said MaMaw, you just made my day!!! He was grinning from ear to ear. That made me feel good to see him grin so big. Deep down I kept my fingers crossed he would make it back and no dents.  Well ,I heard him coming about two streets over, he had the windows down and was blasting the radio with his music and still grinning. Got to love them, they keep you young. By the way he bought it back in one piece.!! Yeah!!

Hubby is wanting me to trade, the caddy is a gas hog, but he wants me to buy a make I despise and I told him I would drive the caddy until the wheels fall off!!! I know I will have to get a gas efficent car, but I want to pick it out, if he got to pick his big old Diesel out I can pick the car I wanted!!!! We'll see how it goes. LOL

I also had Hayden, he is adorable, I think I have said that before ????  Hubby and I took him out in the car yesterday, our very first car trip with him.  We did Ok, but Hayden cried the whole time,  I don't know if he didn't like the car, wasn't feeling good, and I told his Mom about it and she said Ma Maw, when I used your car he cried everytime I put him in it!! Ok, I guess the caddy has to go, got to keep Hayden happy!! LOL  Not for while yet, I am not ready for car payments!! I hate them.

Now about Quirks: My friend Jan tagged me because she said she loved Me??? She may not after she reads my quirks???LOL

THE RULE FOR THE TAG ARE AS FOLLOWS:
LINK THE PERSON WHOTAGGED YOU.
MENTION THE RULES IN BLOG
TELL ABOUT 6 UNSPECTACULAR QUIRKS OF YOURS
TAG 6 FELLOW BLOGGER BY LINKING THEM
LEAVE A COMMENT ON EACH OF THE TAGGED BLOGGERS BLOG LEETING THEM KNOW THEY HAVE BEEN TAGGED.

Quirk #1  Towels in my bathroom have to be stacked color coded, like white , green, white, green Etc: if they are out of order I can not go to bed until I have fixed this!! Wash Cloths have to be folded a certain way.

Quirk # 2  If I see one piece of lint on my carpet, I cannot just pick it up, I have to vacum the whole room. Needless to say I go through a lot of vacums! Same for kitchen floor, something spills, I have to wash the whole floor???

Quirk # 3  NO ONE can cut my lawn to suit me!! I tried hiring it out and then I would go over it, because they left uneven track marks on the lawn. So needless to say at 60 I still cut my own lawn and do my own weed-eating.

Quirk # 4  Did I mention before I do yard work I have to have my hair done and make up on?? Crazy huh, because it usually runs off my face from sweating. But when I start I look good!! LOL

Quirk # 5   I have ear rings to match every outfit I own, plus shoes, everything has to match.

Quirk # 6   Food, if I go to a social gathering, like my bowling banquet I have to know who made what, because I have to know who cooked it as whether I will eat it or not!!

That was hard, because I'm not sure the above is quirks???? Most of my blog friends have already been tagged so I won't get to tag six, just two , Jennie and Texasbluebonney.  Love you guys.

Ok now that you know I am a basket case everyone have a great week. Pictures will follow in next blog of finished stained porch and stressed steps!!!
Nuff Said: Pat

This "N" That

Not much happening here at the work place. I think they have a meeting with the new prospective owners this evening??? I'm not going to fret over it, I will cross that bridge when I get to it.

Today they say is Earth Day and everyone should do something to save the earth, I guess one of the things I could give up is paper plates, I use paper plates for every meal, unless its a holiday or something.  I do catch rain water in the summer to water my flowers and wash my hair in.  Have you ever used rain water to wash your hair, you need no conditioner, it makes it so soft.

You know I thought I was clumsy, but my neighbor is gotten me beat.  Remember my neighobor I told you about who moved here from Pennsylvania and was so home sick and lonely?  Well she is settleing in, got her and her husband into bowling with us.  Now she loves to do wood working and she was out in her shop making a trellis for her honeysuckle bush and she stepped out of the building and there was this hole and she stepped in it and down she went.  They thought she had broken both of her ankles, but after an MRI they are badly sprained. She also hit her head and she had a knot on it the size of an egg, not to mention she had one of her legs stripped for varicous viens and there were 27 incisions on that leg that she had done the week before.  So they take her away in the ambulance and I'm thinking they will keep her for a few days.

So the next morning I see her husbands vehicle there and on my way to work, I stop and tap lightly on the door in case he is sleeping, well immediately the door swings open, but I see no one, until I look down and there she is on all fours and just started crying when she saw me. I said what are you doing on the floor?  and why aren't you using crutches or something?  Since both of her ankles are sprained , swollen, black and blue she can't bear any weight on either.  She like me is a smoker and she had crawled to the back door to smoke and could not get back and her husband was flat of his back, because he pulled it lifing her back into the house that evening on return from the hospital. Why he didn't call for help I will never know.

Anyway, I helped her get back to the sofa, make her a pot of coffee and arranged everthing she would need until another one of our neighbors could get there to help her out for the rest of the day.  She thanked and thanked me and she said when she pushed that back door open she swore I had wings on my back and was all in a glow.  Now what a compliment, I hate this for her, because I know how independent she is and how frustrating this is to her.  So to help her with her independence I had a wheel chair and she can go to the bathroom now and get in and out of bed by herself. She called me at work and said what a life saver that wheel chair was. She just kept giving me so much thanks and I said honey you would do this for me if it was reversed right? Ok no thanks needed. Thats what friends do for one another.

She is moving around a little now and the husband can walk again, a little stiff, but he is upright again.  Hopefully they will be ok.

Last night was my last night of bowling for the winter league, going to miss all of my great friends for the summer.  They have a summer league, but I have so much yard work in the summer, I just don't have the time.  To "toot" my own horn I had the highest average for the women bowlers. HOOT HOOT. LOL

One of my jobs I planned to do this spring is to restain my porch floor.  Now I had the steps painted and because they are treated lumber the paint will not stay on, so I had this bright idea to have my son pressure wash the paint off and I would stain them the color of the porch.  Well the pressure washer did not remove all of the paint, so I tried scrapping and all I was doing was digging up the wood and the sander was doing the same thing, taking away too much of the wood.  So I think the term for this look on my steps is called "stressed", well friends they are stressed and so am I!!! LOL Maybe with time the rest of the paint will chip away. I will try and get before and after pictures when I am completley done.

Well, I've probably bored you enough, Hope everyone has a great week.
